My First KubeCon Experience: KubeCon + CloudNativeCon India 2026
Learning, Networking, and OpenSource.

Intro.
I'm Siddesh, and in this blog I'll be sharing my experience of attending KubeCon + CloudNativeCon India 2026 in Mumbai. It was a great opportunity to learn from industry leaders, open-source maintainers, and cloud-native enthusiasts from across the ecosystem. I'll cover what KubeCon is, why it matters, my experience at the event.
Whether you're interested in Kubernetes, DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, Open Source, or Cloud Native technologies, I hope this blog gives you an insight into what makes KubeCon such a valuable experience.
Overview.
I've been an open-source enthusiast since my high school days, using Linux and other free and open-source software. Through this journey, I discovered CNCF and its projects, which eventually led me to KubeCon. As a third-year engineering student with one more year left before graduation, attending KubeCon + CloudNativeCon India 2026 was a great opportunity to learn from the cloud-native community and connect with people working on technologies I use and admire.
I'm grateful to the Dan Kohn Scholarship Program by CNCF for making this experience possible. The event was held at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on 18th and 19th June 2026. The venue was easily accessible by public transport, metro, and cabs, making it convenient for attendees traveling from different parts of the city.
What is KubeCon ?
KubeCon + CloudNativeCon is the flagship conference of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF). It brings together developers, maintainers, platform engineers, DevOps professionals, SREs, and organizations from across the cloud-native ecosystem to learn, collaborate, and share ideas.
The conference features keynotes, technical sessions, community discussions, and a solutions showcase covering Kubernetes and the broader CNCF landscape. It is one of the best places to learn about the latest trends in cloudnative technologies and connect with the people building them.

Why It Matters.
KubeCon is not just a conference it's more of a gathering of the CNCF community, where maintainers, contributors, companies, and technology enthusiasts come together to learn, collaborate, and share ideas.
If you're someone interested in Cloud Native technologies, Kubernetes, DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Open Source, there's no better place to connect with the community and stay up to date with what's happening in the ecosystem.
Networking, Career Opportunities & Open Source Connections
One of the biggest benefits of attending KubeCon is the people you meet. You'll get the opportunity to network with engineers, maintainers, founders, students, and professionals from across the industry.
These connections can lead to mentorship opportunities, internship and job referrals, and valuable career advice. You can also meet maintainers and contributors of open-source projects, learn from their experiences, and even discover ways to start contributing yourself.
My Experience.
The CNCF community is one of the most welcoming communities I've been a part of. As one of the youngest attendees at the event, I had the opportunity to learn from people with diverse backgrounds and years of industry experience.
Before attending, I had planned my schedule and shortlisted the sessions I wanted to attend. This helped me make the most of my time and ensure I didn't miss topics that interested me.
One of the most valuable parts of KubeCon for me was the Peer Group Mentoring Sessions. These were divided into three tracks: Community, Career, and Technology. I had prepared a list of questions beforehand, which led to some insightful discussions with mentors and fellow attendees.I also had the opportunity to talk with open-source project maintainers and mentors, learn about their journeys, understand how large-scale projects are managed, and get advice on contributing more effectively to open source. I shared my own open-source journey, discussed how I got started with contributing to projects, and guided a few people who were interested in beginning their open-source journey. It was rewarding to both learn from others and give back to the community.
Apart from the technical sessions and networking, I also collected some cool swag from various booths and made many great memories throughout the event. From meeting new people to engaging with the community, KubeCon was an experience I'll remember for a long time.
Overall, KubeCon + CloudNativeCon India 2026 was an incredible experience, and I already look forward to attending KubeCon 2027, meeting the community again, and continuing my cloud-native and open-source journey.
I also made a new friend during the event and got the chance to give him a small tour of Mumbai. Beyond the sessions, these connections and memories are what made KubeCon even more special.
